Privacy Policy for Right Click Reverse Image Searcher

Last Updated: 27 May 2025

Thank you for using Right Click Reverse Image Searcher (the “Extension”), a Google Chrome extension designed to help you perform reverse image searches and download images with ease. This Privacy Policy explains how the Extension handles information when you use its features.

1. Introduction

Right Click Reverse Image Searcher provides context menu (right-click) options that allow users to:

  • Initiate reverse image searches for a selected image using third-party search engines.
  • Download a selected image to their local computer.

The Extension operates locally within your browser and is designed with your privacy in mind.

2. Information We Process

When you use the Extension, the following information is processed directly by your browser at your explicit direction:

  • Image URLs: When you right-click on an image and select an option from the Extension’s menu, the URL (web address) of that image (srcUrl) is processed. This can include standard http/https URLs or data: URIs if the image is embedded directly in the webpage.
  • User-Initiated Actions: All processing is initiated by you through the right-click context menu. The Extension does not automatically collect or process any information in the background.

We do not collect or store any personal information or the image URLs you process on any servers owned or controlled by us.

3. How We Use Information

The image URLs are processed solely for the following purposes, based on the action you select:

  • For Reverse Image Search:
  • If you choose a reverse image search option (e.g., “Google Images (via Lens),” “TinEye,” “Yandex Images”), the captured image URL is used to construct a search query.
  • This constructed search query, which includes the image URL, is then sent directly from your browser to the selected third-party search engine’s website, opening in a new tab.
  • The Extension itself does not transmit this information to our servers. Your interaction with the third-party search engine is then governed by that search engine’s own privacy policy and terms of service.
  • For Downloading Images:
  • If you choose the “Save Image (via Extension)” option, the captured image URL (or the data: URI itself) is passed to your browser’s built-in download manager to initiate the download of the image directly to your local computer.
  • The Extension helps suggest a filename based on the URL or MIME type (for data: URIs), but the download process is handled by your browser.
  • No image data or URL is sent to our servers during this process.
  • For Notifications:
  • The Extension may use Chrome’s notification system to provide you with feedback, such as warnings if you attempt to perform a reverse image search on a data: URI (which can be unreliable with some search engines) or if a download fails. These notifications are local to your browser.

4. Information Sharing and Disclosure

  • Third-Party Search Engines:
  • When you initiate a reverse image search, the image URL is shared directly by your browser with the third-party search engine you select. We encourage you to review their privacy policies:
  • Beyond sending image URLs to your chosen third-party search engine at your explicit direction, Right Click Reverse Image Searcher does not share, sell, rent, or trade any processed information (like image URLs) with any other third parties for their commercial purposes.
  • As the Extension operates locally and does not have its own backend server for these functions, we do not store or have access to the image URLs you search or download.

5. Data URIs

When you right-click on an image represented as a data: URI:

  • For downloads, the data: URI is processed locally to facilitate the download.
  • For reverse image searches, the Extension will show a notification warning that searching with data: URIs can be unreliable. If you were to proceed (current functionality stops you), the data: URI itself would become part of the URL sent to the third-party search engine.

6. Security

  • Downloads initiated by the Extension are handled by your browser’s standard download security mechanisms.
  • When image URLs are sent to third-party search engines, the security of that data transmission and handling is governed by the practices of those third-party services (typically over HTTPS).

7. User Choices

You have control over the Extension’s functionality:

  • You choose which image to right-click on.
  • You choose which action (search or download) to perform.
  • You choose which third-party search engine to use for reverse image searches.
  • You can disable or uninstall the Extension at any time through your Chrome browser’s extension management page.

8. Children’s Privacy

The Extension is not designed for or intentionally targeted at children under the age of 13 (or the relevant age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy and updating the “Last Updated” date at the top of this policy. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
